Dose Calibrator

Ionization chamber is an instrument designed to measure the number of ions in the medium. It usually consists of a casing filled with gas between the escort of two electrodes (anode and cathode). When the gas between these electrodes is ionized in any way, such as gamma rays or other radioactive emissions, ions and electrons are transferred dissociated electrodes of opposite polarity, creating a current ionization which has to be measured. Each ion deposits or removes a little electric charge into or out of the electrode, so that the accumulated electric charge in proportion to the number of charged ions.
Ionization chambers are widely used in nuclear medicine to determine the exact activity radioactive dose intended to patient and are better known under the name Dose Calibrator.
